Big Black 'Atomizer' Test Pressing 1986 REJECTED TEST PRESSING by FRANKKUBB

Big Black Atomizer LP - REJECTED Test Pressing

This is an extremely rare record from my personal collection. Released by Homestead (HMS043/043C) in 1986 - making it a very rare test pressing since it's not the more common Touch and Go release.

What makes it EVEN rarer is that it's an original REJECTED test pressing of Big Black's Atomizer LP from 1986. Apparently, Steve was very unhappy with the initial version, and insisted that the master be recut. He had copious notes for Homestead Records about what was wrong with the record. If you take a look at the etchings on the commercial release, they are "HMS 043 A RE" (RE stands for "remake") and" HMS 043 B RE", whereas here they're "HMS 043 A" (see picture) and "HMS 043 B".

While I don't have Steve's original notes (since I didn't get the copy that had the writing on it), the previous owner who I bought it off of does. Take a look here for more details on the original sale of this album: http://www.popsike.com/Big-Black-Atomizer-LP-original-REJECTED-test-pressing/120320851764.html

Before you ask what's different about it, I'm not really sure. I had every intent to listen to it after I purchased it, but I never got around to it. That will be up to the next owner to figure out.

There's only a few of these that are known to even exist. All of my other Atomizer LP test pressings have the RE ("remake") designation in the etching just like the the production Homestead release.

Track List:
"Jordan, Minnesota"
"Passing Complexion"
"Big Money"
"Kerosene"
"Bad Houses"
"Fists of Love"
"Stinking Drunk"
"Bazooka Joe"
"Strange Things"
"Cables" (live)

I just managed to get a copy of this TP recently. ANY chance of getting a copy of those Albini notes?? Would be great to listen to and see what he heard wrong that I would probably miss.

Thanks.
