Riot Grrrl - A Mini Documentary

Heavens To Betsy - Demo Tape posted by FRANKKUBB

This is a recording of Heavens To Betsy's first demo tape. Heavens To Betsy were made up of Tracey Sawyer and Corin Tucker (later of Sleater-Kinney fame). The group was born during the full rage of the riot grrrl scene in Portland in the early 90s.

The songs include the various themes that riot grrrl was interested in e.g. sexism, rape and domestic violence. Corin even mentioned in an interview that she based her vocal style, in the early days, on Kathleen Hanna's, of Bikini Kill fame, infamous scream.

The recording is from a cassette so the quality isn't too good but it's worth it to hear rare songs.

Tracklisting:
Good Food
Factory
Seek and Hide
Stay Dead
My Red Self
Ain't Never Goin' Back
Baby's Gone

Smersh 'Compilation/Collection'

Link & info compiled from http://smallelectric.blogspot.com/

Very little is known of this basement duo from Franklin Park, New Jersey and from what I have found out...they have NEVER played live and record their music onto cassettes, I have been fortunate enough to find this very album Smersh 'The Part Of The Animal That People Dont Eat' and 'The Beat Fr 20,000 Fathoms' Their bread and butter however have been in the cassette trade, heavy lo-fi recordings and loads of distortion their ever apparent D.I.Y ethic stood strong and it shows in their music...

and thats a VERY good thing..
this collection is a scatterling of tracks from various comps, cassettes, and L.P.'s FRANKKUBB
